Here is more information on the oils that come in the kit.

Lavender: Support healthy and glowing skin. I use it in my homemade facial serum as it is moisturizing. Also great for burns and cuts. Just apply a drop straight on it! A lot of ICUs use it to help with occasional anxiety with their patients before and after procedures.

Peppermint: Support and maintain a healthy digestive system and energy levels! Great to apply on your temples when you have a headache and this is my favorite to diffuse to help stay alert.

Thieves: Promote a healthy immune system. Replace: Emergen-c, household cleaner, hand soap, Orajel, bleach, etc. with this. University tested to actually kill airborne germs when diffused!

How essential oils impact emotions

99% of life’s decisions are made from feelings. When our thoughts are limited by fears, lack of self-worth, and not feeling good enough for more or better, we make decisions that limit our success.  Therefore, if you want your life to be guided by good decisions that lead to health, happiness, and fulfillment, you need to be aware of and in control of your present feelings and to learn how to release the repressed emotions of the past.

Essential Oils can help your body release stagnant anger, sadness, grief, judgment and low self worth. Those feelings of low vibration cannot coexist with your new high frequency environment of balance and peace that the essential oils help create.

It is important to remember that Essential Oils do not do our emotional work for us. They simply assist in the process.  As feelings surface with the application of oils I would suggest that you use meditation and journaling along with prayer to facilitate the healing process.

Since I introduced essential oils into my life I feel more in control of the rollercoaster. The emotions don’t own me as much as I own THEM.  And that has been priceless for me and why I am so passionate about sharing them with all of you today.

Joy or Sadness

I love diffusing Orange at work. It is a smell the fellow co-workers like and it helps keep me calm (er) when those e-mails start to pile up.  I wear Joy daily as a perfume – this oil has been immensely helpful in dealing with my depression over losing my parents and dealing with life in general. Joy contains rose oil, which has the highest frequency of any essential oil out there!  Some of the other blends listed in the photo below are Peace and Calming, which is amazing for children, And White Angelica , which is one so many people say helps them cope with life in general.

Trust or Disgust

There are some great blends and oils listed here. Have you ever smelled an essential oil that you didn’t like?  When I first smelled Frankincense I swear I thought I was smelling a shoe. I am serious.  Everyone reacts different to the scent of an essential oil.  Most smell divine but some take some getting used to. But I had heard it took out wrinkles so I used it on my face anyway every night before bed.  I noticed after a week I felt calmer.  More grounded.  The smell grew on me and caught myself sniffing straight from the bottle.  And yes, it did help my wrinkles! The moral of this story is if you don’t like a smell of an oil it means you need it!

Fear or Anger

There are some great oils listed here but I am going to concentrate on one specifically because it has literally changed my life. I am talking about Valor Essential Oil. The oils in this blend are Black Spruce, Camphor Wood, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, and Geranium.

Forgiveness

Apply Forgiveness around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times and think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others. We beat up on ourselves, but everyone makes mistakes. Yet we struggle to forgive our own mistakes and those of others. This blend creates the frequency and the fragrance that stimulates the mind to move past the trauma or the problem. You do not need the other person to be present, because this is an inner adjustment on your part. Forgive that person or yourself and be thankful for the experience and the lesson it taught you. Inhale and apply Forgiveness while going through the process and repeat as often as necessary. How to use: Apply around navel and the heart, or wear as a perfume.

Harmony

We need harmony in our life but sometimes it goes haywire. Sometimes we’re at dissonance with people, sometimes we don’t get along, sometimes we have different opinions and we’re really strong about ours.  I think Harmony helps us to maybe have a little more leeway when dealing with other people, and hopefully they’ll have a little more leeway with us so we can really understand and be with each other harmonically.

Inner Child

When you are a child, all things are possible. There are no limitations. When you have found your inner child, you have found your true self. The child in you is your creativity. Often we are unable to progress to our highest potential because we are not connected to our identity. Many complications arise as a result of lost identity from the inner child. You can apply Inner Child on various points depending upon how you are directed: around the navel, over the heart, applied on the sternum, the throat, or behind the ears. I enjoy it on the temples.

Present Time

How many of us forget to enjoy the moment?!? We all do too frequently.  When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. Energize three drops of Present Time by making clockwise circles on the oil in the palm of your hand and then apply it to your thymus (the gland just under your sternum or breastbone). This will keep you focused on the tasks of today.

Release

Negative energy goes into the blood and then to the liver, where the toxic feelings can remain trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings. Apply a drop of Release on your tongue to let go of poisonous stored emotions from the liver. Rub Release over the liver area.

Valor

You should start with six drops of Valor on the soles of both feet at bedtime or whenever you decide to use this kit. I would also suggest Highest Potential along with the Valor. These two blends are effective to erase limited thinking. Valor balances and equalizes the body’s energies, thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland—the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. My leap of Faith

Today I am flying to Salt Lake City, Utah for the first time to attend Young Living’s Convention.  I will be with Young Living 2 years next month.  I knew that the oils would be fun,  but I truly didn’t know the full extent of how life changing they WOULD be and HAVE been!

There are no words that I could express just how grateful I am to the Lord for persisting in nudging my soul to purchase.  I read and saw about Young Living oils FIVE TIMES over a span of FIVE MONTHS until I finally said YES,  Yes, to better health and yes, to a better life! I want each of you to realize that I want that for you and your family. Where my family was 2 years ago, seems surreal to me.  My mom had died unexpectedly.  I had a chronically sick 6 month old baby that only slept 2-3 hours at a time and I was EXHAUSTED.  My hormones and emotions were all over the place.  I was barely hanging on.  Seriously I look back at those first few weeks when I lost my mom and I honestly don’t know how I made it.  But then a kit of oils arrived on my doorstep.  I started diffusing and wearing them.  I made rollerballs and creams.  And I started to feel better! Still skeptical, I started reading into them and researching.  Amazed at what I saw I decided I had to share.  Adventure In Oils was born that day.

What I use:

Essentialzymes-4.  This is served in a blister pack of 2 capsules.  One cream colored and one yellow.  The cream-colored capsule contains pancreatin, bee pollen powder, lipase, and essential oils of ginger, fennel, tarragon, anise, and lemongrass. All of these are complementary for the digestion of fats, and lemongrass is also a blood and liver cleanser.

The yellow capsule is a vegetable blend and includes amylase, cellulase, and three protease formulas. Protease is heavy in there because most people are heavy protein eaters and need this protease to digest all of it. There is also a little lipase, peptidase, phytase, bromelain, and papain—pineapple and papaya—with anise, ginger, rosemary, tarragon, and fennel essential oils.  Rosemary was added to the blend for liver support and to improve and enhance the digestive ability.  This yellow capsule is also particularly valuable because it contains amylase—why? Why Are Young Living Oils Better?

I recently was asked this and I wanted to share with you guys what I found in my research and my own opinion on this question.  Essential oils are a commodity in this world like any other item that is sold to the public.  You will have the good, the bad and the ugly.  Most of the time it is good.  I will never claim that other essential oil companies don’t have good oils.  What I will claim is that Young Living will ALWAYS have good oils.  That my friends, is the difference and why I am a Young Living member and continue to buy their oils.  Trust is a huge thing for me and I never have to worry about the quality of their oils.  With that said, lets get to the story I want to tell you today.

When a plant is distilled for an essential oil there are different avenues a distiller can take to get it to market.  If they distill at high heat and quick time they will get more oil from the plant faster.  This is great for volume.  But it horrible for preserving the therapeutic compounds of the oil.  Most plants need to be distilled at LOW temperatures for a longer distill time to get all the therapeutic compounds out of the plant.  But if the distiller doesn’t care about that but just wants volume than yes, it is 100% oil, but it is not the same quality as an oil that has been distilled at the proper temperature.

Also, this same plant may have different varieties that give different healing properties, which in turn also changes the price. Lavender is a great example.  Most companies will use “Lavandin” in their Lavender oil or blends as it is cheaper.  However, “Lavender Angustifolia” is what is considered “true” Lavender and which has the most healing properties.  It is also a traditionally lower yielding plant.  “Lavandin” is a Lavender plant that has higher yields but different therapeutic qualities.  For example, Lavender Angustifolia will heal burns.  Lavandin will not due to its higher camphor content than can actually make burns worse.  Essential oil bottles should say the name of the plant on the bottle.  Look at this next time you purchase Lavender.  You will want Lavender Angustifolia if you are looking to put on your skin.  Lavandin is fine for perfume or linens.  Not the best for your skin.

Almost all essential oil batches are bought by big brokers in the market. They in turn take those batches of oil and divide them to sell to different markets.  They may take lavender oil, lace it with synthetics to improve fragrance and yield, label it “Perfume” grade and sell to the big fragrance companies worldwide.  Or a broker may take the lavender oil, add an odorless solvent to increase yield, and sell is to unsuspecting companies that then bottle and sell their “100%” essential oil” to consumers.

You have to remember essential oils are NOT regulated by the FDA.  So there is no standardized testing.  No one is testing all these companies and their bottles of oil. To be honest this is a gray area in the essential oil world.  Companies can get away with labeling a product as 100% even if it is not because who is checking?!?

Now I am not saying every essential oil out there is bad except Young Living. I am sure they are many companies out there with good hearts trying to get the best product they can to the customer.  The truth is though that most of these companies are NOT testing their oils prior to bottling and selling.  They are trusting their brokers and trusting their suppliers that what they are getting is the real thing.

What sets Young Living apart and why I trust them and pay the money for them is that they control the entire process from literally the seed that is planted in the ground to how it is distilled and bottled.  They also test every batch of oil before they bottle to ensure the oil is what it says it is. They actually own their own farms (Gary Young grew up as a farmer and trained in the Lavender fields in France. How many essential oil companies can claim that?)  Young Living grows their plants organically, and then distills them right there on the farm where they can control the distillation time and temperature.  On the oils they have to purchase from outside their farms, they have staff onsite to watch the distill and packaging of oils and then they test it in their and outside labs to ensure it is what they say it is.  Most companies don’t do these extra steps.  It is time consuming and it costs money.

Whatever company you use, be sure to read that label carefully and even e-mail the company to see where they actually buy their oils from. Do they use brokers? Do they own farms? Do they test the oils before bottling?

Thieves Essential Oil Blend

Hi friends! It’s October, which means it’s quite possibly the most beautiful month of the year, in every area, colors, smells, temperature, etc. It doesn’t get much better than October. It does also mean the start of cold and flu season. This past month friends around me have already dealt with hand, foot and mouth disease and possibly strep. So… this post we are going to focus on THIEVES! Most of you probably know how amazing Thieves is but in case you don’t, or in case you’ve forgotten…, I’m going to remind you!

So what kinda name is Thieves for an essential oil? Well, let’s start with a bit of a history lesson.

While there are a few versions of the story they all center around one event, the Bubonic Plague. It is said that, during that time, four thieves went from house to house to rob those who had succumbed to the illness. After the thieves were captured and tried for their acts of robbery, a judge offered leniency if they would share how they were able to be around those afflicted long and often enough to rob them but not be affected by the illness. It’s interesting to note here that, during this time of the plague striking Europe, physicians were seen wearing long black robes, wide brimmed hats, and masks that appeared to have a beak. The reason for doing this is that the masks were said to have contained a combination of herbs, spices, and essential oils that the physicians would breathe in order to keep themselves safe from those afflicted with the illness. Their long black robes were also said to be doused in a similar fragrant concoction and current research continues to build upon this theory. Pretty cool, right?

Thieves is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma. Thieves put to the test

So Weber State University conducted a study in 1997.  The results showed Thieves Oil to have a 99.96% success rate against airborne bacteria.  The bacteria cultures were exposed in an enclosed area and the Thieves Essential Oils blend was infused into the space.  Within 10 minutes of exposure there was a reduction of:

82% in Micrococcus luteus (bacteria found in water, soil, dust & air)
96% in Pseudomonas aeruginosa (sepsis)
44% in Staphylococcus aureus (staph)

Young Living Mona, Utah Farm Visit

My husband was in Utah last week for business and decided to make a visit to the Mona, Utah Young Living farm!  I didn’t believe him till he video called me at the farm! I was so jealous as I have not been there yet.  But he did bring me back some wonderful gifts, including fresh dried Lavender, so I can’t be too mad at him….lol

The farm is open to visitors year round.  You don’t need an appointment (except for the distillery tour – it pays to call ahead), and there is a gift shop on property.  Brian even got to try Lavender infused ice cream!

Since he didn’t plan ahead, he was unsure if he could get a distillery tour.  But he came across a woman who was so nice and offered to give him a tour right then!  Being a chemist, he was fascinated with their distillation methods, equipment and filtration room.  She even showed him the lab room!  He was impressed how impeccably clean everything was and how good condition the grounds were in.  And everyone was so nice he said.  It is definitely worth visiting and seeing first hand the seed to seal process in action.

My First Make and Take Party with Essential Oils

After a year of using and loving essential oils I finally got around to hosting my first make and take party at my house Saturday night.  SO much fun and I will definitely be making this a regular thing.  We made Thieves Wipes, Room Freshener and Roller Balls.

A make and take is basically using your essential oils to make DIY home and body products that are natural and chemical free.  They are easier than you think to make and work even better than the store bought equivalents for usually a fraction of the price.

I had bought supplies for 10 and ended up having 6 people show.  So it worked out great.  This time I didn’t charge to generate interest, but next time I will charge around $10-15 a person to cover costs depending on the recipes. Below is a picture of the supply table.  It is always a good idea to have multiple measuring cups, spoons, etc. on hand to allow multiple people to make recipes at the same time.

My husband is an amazing chef and made some wonderful desserts for us.  I only managed to get a picture of the cookies, but don’t they look divine?  I also made a Limoncello Sangria that was out of this world good.

The first recipe we made was Thieves Cleaning Wipes. I used Ziplock Containers and labeled the containers with Chalkboard Labels.  Here is the recipe to try yourself.  It came out amazing and I have already used them to clean my kitchen sink and bathroom.

Thieves Cleaning Wipes

Ingredients:

• 2 Cups Vinegar
• 2 Cups Distilled Water
• 4 TB Thieves Cleaning from Young Living
• 1 Roll of Durable Paper Towels

Directions:

1. Combine vinegar, water and Thieves Cleaner in a bowl and mix.
2. Cut the paper towels in 1/2 (or use select a size paper towels).  Pour one half of the liquid mixture over each half.  Put the lid on and shake to combine.
3. Use to clean small messes.

 

Next we made a Room Spray.   These came out awesome and I already have made another one as there are so many uses for these!  You can use them for the bathroom, or as a linen spray, mood booster, stink eraser, etc.  Versatile is the name here.  I bought bottles from an online aromatherapy supply store and they worked great.  Amazon would be another great place to source them from.  I allowed my guests to use oils of their choice and most did 1-2 oils for a nice blend.  Citrus oils are great ones to use for this and they are economical as well.

Room Spray using Essential Oils

• 4 oz. Glass Spray Bottle
• 3.5 oz. Distilled Water
• Add 20 drops Essential Oils
• 3 tsp. Grain Alcohol, Witch Hazel, or Vodka

Combine in a spray bottle, shake and spray!

 

The last recipe was a make your own rollerball station.  I did’t get pictures of that but it worked great.  Just give guests a rollerball, 2-3 recipes to choose from, and the essential oils and carrier oil to fill the rollerball with.  I bought laminated labels from an online shop, but you can easily use a label maker, chalk labels, or even a marker in a pinch to label the bottle.

Now don’t forgot to allow your guests to experience other oils and products while they are there! I had a sniff station set up for people to look at, and I had other favorite Young Living Products of mine out with literature available for people to take home.

 

Overall it was an awesome time and I think my next one will be a holiday themed open house concept where people can come over and make recipes up for holiday gifts, etc.  Please consider holding a party yourself and just remember to have fun! It is great to get friends together to catch up and talk about a shared interest.

ART Skincare Line Review

I don’t know about y’all, but for years I had a hard time finding facial products that actually had a good effect on my skin. Yes, I’d found some that seemed okay for a few days, but then would come that horrible day when I would wake up to discover that my skin had broken out, and I’d realize that the product I had been using had done more to clog and dry out my skin than to nourish or moisturize it.

I have tried everything from Nuetrogena to expensive brands like Boscia, Murad and Glamglow. The expensive brands worked better than the cheaper ones, but they still weren’t what I’d hoped for. My skin still broke out, and I still felt too dry or too oily. Not to mention the “wrinkles” that are beginning to crop up around my eyes, etc. I needed to find a better way!

The last few months I have been experimenting with using essential oils on my skin. First I used Frankincense with a carrier oil on my skin at night. It did help keep my skin clear and brightened my complexion. It even took away a blue beauty mark I had on my forehead! See picture below.
