Digestive Enzymes

What exactly are enzymes? Enzymes are the proteins produced by living organisms and are composed of amino acids.

Enzymes are responsible for every chemical reaction in our bodies. They allow our cells to build up and break down molecules in our bodies! But did you know that your bodies ability to produce its own enzymes decreases with age? Wonder why you struggle with so much indigestion? Enzyme deficiency may be to blame!!

Enzyme supplements will aid your digestion, help you absorb vitamins and increase the speed of your digestion.

Young Living sells FOUR Enzyme Supplements. Essentialzyme, Essentialzyme 4, Detoxzyme and Allerzyme. I will discuss the basics of each one below. For detailed information go to the Young Living website for the complete list of ingredients. I take one of these everyday and it really helps keep my bloat away and keep things “moving” along where it should.

What I use:

Essentialzymes-4.  This is served in a blister pack of 2 capsules.  One cream colored and one yellow.  The cream-colored capsule contains pancreatin, bee pollen powder, lipase, and essential oils of ginger, fennel, tarragon, anise, and lemongrass. All of these are complementary for the digestion of fats, and lemongrass is also a blood and liver cleanser.

The yellow capsule is a vegetable blend and includes amylase, cellulase, and three protease formulas. Protease is heavy in there because most people are heavy protein eaters and need this protease to digest all of it. There is also a little lipase, peptidase, phytase, bromelain, and papain—pineapple and papaya—with anise, ginger, rosemary, tarragon, and fennel essential oils.  Rosemary was added to the blend for liver support and to improve and enhance the digestive ability.  This yellow capsule is also particularly valuable because it contains amylase—why? Because too many diets are filled with starch, and amylase digests starch!

Remember that enzymes are involved in every process of the body, so be sure to build your enzyme reserves with good nutrition and use your enzymes daily.
